Things to do in Larne

Things to do in Larne

Attractions in Northern Ireland

Outdoor spaces Carnfunnock Country Park is a short 10 minute drive from Larne Port and is great for family or group visitors. You can even go camping in your caravan here! Their family fun zone is a great place to start if you have children. Or perhaps you want to play a game of golf with friends on their 9 hole golf course. For people that just want to explore the outdoors cycling or walking they have a range of trails for you to enjoy. 


Glenoe Waterfall is another wonderful location to explore. A National Trust site which is a short walk away from the charming village of Glenoe, near Larne. It is known as one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Northern Ireland, but we will let you be the judge of that! There are picnic tables at the site for anyone who wants to enjoy a snack while you are there.

Arts and Culture

Larne Museum and Arts Centre was lovingly restored in 2005 as part of its centenary celebrations and has maintained many of its original features. The main gallery within the museum hosts displays that show the agricultural, industrial, military and maritime history of the area. There is also a museum folk-life display that explores Larne’s rural hinterland. 

Nearby Attractions

Glenarm Castle, is a stately home and gardens just a short drive away from Larne. They hold a range of events throughout the year including their Christmas experience in December if you’re looking to get in the festive mood. The walk around the beautiful gardens will definitely help you work up an appetite to grab a bite to eat in their charming tea rooms. 


Carrickfergus Castle is a short 20 minute drive from Larne port. A norman castle full of history with it being besieged by the Scots, Irish, English and French. It is also one of the best well preserved medieval structures in Ireland.  
 
Glenarm Castle
